This major public school retained Paternoster to act as its communications advisers during the decision-making process to merge its existing boys’ and girls’ schools into one co-educational school.
We canvased opinions from staff, parents and alumni on the issue using a detailed questionnaire, the analysis of which was presented to governors to inform their decision to proceed.
Once the decision had been taken, we devised a strategy to communicate around key milestones as the merger process evolved. This was a complex task as the merger involved combining two curricula, boarding houses, extracurricular activities and cultures that had been resolutely independent of one another. This was achieved against a backdrop of widespread initial resistance to the plan.
