We were retained by the incoming head of this well-known public school who had been hired to stabilise a school that was in significant crisis. A combination of historical abuse allegations, combined with what was regarded by the inspectors to be an inadequate safeguarding regime meant that the survival of this school was in significant doubt. The DfE had become involved and was effectively preventing the school from recruiting new pupils, staff morale was at an all-time low and the school was in the spotlight of the national media.
Having worked with the head before, we advised him on how to communicate with staff to build morale, what to say to parents and when and how to use press statements to bring pressure to bear on regulators at what was perceived to be unfair treatment of the school. We also developed a communications programme around the significant safeguarding improvements that were brought in by the new head, and also advised him on how best to communicate with his Board of Governors
