We were retained to provide communications support around the return of a contested artifact to the nation from which it had been taken, and subsequently a court case brought to try and secure the removal of a monument in the chapel to a benefactor to the college who had been found to be involved in the slave trade.
Both issues caused very strong reactions – both within the college, where students and academics were broadly supportive of the proposals, and amongst alumnae – some of whom were vocally opposed. The issue played out in the media and become something of a test case for other institutions who were wrestling with the same problem.
